took part in counter-attack on night of 24th/25th May, Y Company advanced

flanks were not as successful, and Y Company came under fire from both
flanks. By dawn of the 25th Y Company withdraw to position west of road

K. in A. 27/04/15 aged 24. Son of Joseph Robinson, of 78, Charlestown
Rd., Glossop. His name is on the Menin Gate Memorial. On the 27th April
1915 X & Z Companies of the 2nd Battalion were in trenches half
a mile beyond Zonnebeke. W & Y moved from positions near Verlorenhoek
and took up subsidiary line on the Zonnebeke Ridge between Hill 37 and
the railway. They were shelled with gas and high-explosives on the way.

Buried in Ham British Cemetery, Muille-Villette (II. C. 16). By the
23rd March 1918 the 6th Battalion had become separated after fighting
rear guard actions back to Ham during the 22nd. The biggest body of
men were at Lannoy Farm on the Libermont Canal, about 20 to 30 men were
helping to hold the 20th Division's right flank just east of Canizy.
Lt.-Colonel Welch and a few men still held the bridge-head at Pithon
until just after 8 a.m. Two platoons had ended up at Cugny and joined
