14th (Reserve) Battalion This battalion was formed in Lichfield in October 1914 as the 14th (Service) battalion as part of Lord Kitchener's fourth wave of volunteers (K4). Initially it was attached to 91st Brigade, 30th Division. But the battalion was not sent serve overseas and on 10th April 1915 it was redesignated as a reserve battalion for training new recruits and supplying drafts to the Sherwood Forester Service battalions. On 1st September 1916 it was redesignated again, this time as 13th Training Reserve (TR) Battalion and was attached to the 3rd Reserve Brigade based at Brocton, along with the 13th (Reserve) Battalion of the Sherwood Foresters. |
