Derbyshire Lads: The Sherwood Foresters: 3/7th Battalion

3/7th (Territorial) Battalion

The 3/7th Battalion was formed at Nottingham on 1 March 1915 with the purpose of training and supplying drafts to the two other Robin Hood Battalions, the 1/7th and 2/7th. In October 1915 it moved to Grantham and in April 1916 it became the 7th Reserve Battalion, based at Saltfleet. On 1 September 1916 the 7th Reserve Battalion absorbed the 8th (formerly 3/8th) Reserve Battalion as part of the North Midland Reserve Brigade (Territorial Force). It spent most of 1918 based at Louth.
